Many have asked is there a way to create a shortcut on the PocketPC like you can in windows?
control panel control in Pocket PC (cpl file) [Link] view:1185
Say you wish to avoid unsolicitated beams and save a little battery life make sure your turn off your IR beam when not in use or you wish to easily turn it on to recieve a beam of someone's Vcard. You can make a little shortcut to open the IR utility on your Today Screen with a 3rd party app or use a program like Voice Command and saying IR to open up a shortcut to turn IR on and off, made with a third party app that can do shortcut editing like (DEXplor or Kilmst) or a hand scripted shortcut made on a desktop.
The command line is as follows for the shortcut:
\windows\ctlpnl.exe cplmain.cpl,15
You can also test this out using the "old run command" secret... by holding down the select button and simultaneously tap hold on the time to bring up the run/clock menu, and select run. Here you can paste the line in the "Open" field to test out your shortcut...
Or you can do it via Notepad on your PC, since shortcuts to feature settings are very short plain text files with some text in them and copy it to your Pocket PC:
Select Run from the Windows Start menu
Type notepad.exe.
Click OK.
Enter the text line,
21#ctlpnl cplmain.cpl,15
into your new Notepad file.
Select Save As from the File menu.
Type "IR.lnk" as the filename, without the quotes. Save it to C:\ or any directory you wish. and copy it to the:
windows\start menu\programs directory
Click Save.
Select Exit from the File menu
For other commands here is a list(some may or may not work depending on the device you have):
PPC 2000/2 Commands
0 Contrast
1 Password
2 Owner Information
3 Power
4 Memory
5 About
6 Backlight
7 Align Screen
8 Input Method
9 Sounds & Reminders
10 Remove Programs
11 Menus
12 Buttons
13 Today Settings
14 PC Connections
15 Modem Connections
16 Clock
17 Network Connections
18 Regional Settings
For WME 2003 a few things are different like:
19 Connections
for Bluetooth its
\windows\ctlpnl.exe BTConfigCE.cpl,0 or 23#ctlpnl BTConfigCE.cpl,0
for Audio its
\windows\ctlpnl.exe Tone.cpl,0
for iTask its
\windows\ctlpnl.exe iTask.cpl,0
for Power its
\windows\ctlpnl.exe Powerg.cpl,0
There are a bunch more and you get the idea of it...
Note:
To run a TAB just add a comma and the number counting from left to right starting with 0, also the first number before the # indicates the number of characters in the shortcut command in the *.lnk file.
Some Examples:
PC Connections is 21#ctlpnl cplmain.cpl,14
Connections / Advanced Tab is 23#ctlpnl cplmain.cpl,19,1
Password Setting is 20#ctlpnl cplmain.cpl,1
If you have any other great shortcuts, cool commands, or corrections to add, please do.
